Alex was born in the United States of America but has lived in London since 1963. She studied painting and sculpture at Morley College of Art (1972-1975), Heatherley School of Art (1975-1977) and Sir John Cass School of fine Art (1977-1982). She is married with two children and lives in Kensington.

She is a "mischievous" Artist. In each of her sculptures we find her subtle sense of humour and derision. Her personages are not as serious as the audience feel initially; A kind of smile and a languid attitude give them a touch of life that makes them very attractive. On the other hand, she has got the wonderful talent of representing graceful figures; their long arms, legs and hands far from reality give them a great elegance as in her "ballet dancer" inspired by models coming from the very near by Kensington Ballet School. That reflects very much her own personality, mixture of bubbling, discreet irony, elegance and simplicity; a very curious alchemy coming from her mixed origin, Mexican and Russian and from the richness of different cultures
